I try to solo as much as possible simply because I like absorbing the atmosphere of the game, listening to the dripping water and growls of nearby predators as well as looking at the starry sky at night. And heaven forfend that you actually want to pay attention to the story behind your current quest! Some of the best console rpg's I've played have had mediocre graphics and glitchy interfaces but also an interesting story to tell.
