Projects
Maiden Desmodus
Maiden Desmodus is an online text-based role-playing game set in a detailed world with an original fantasy horror theme.
I began this project in June 2008 in partnership with Wade Gustafson and we opened for beta testing in June 2009 and went live in January 2010. My contribution to the project has been the design and implementation of all game systems such as skills, combat and character development. Myself and Wade are directors of The Binary Forge Limited and we hope to develop more games in the future.
The codebase derives from Nakedmud with the core engine written in C and all game logic in Python.
FMud
FMud is a web based Flash MUD client which can be used by MUD owners on their websites to allow their players to connect to their games.
I was originally motivated to develop FMud after being dissatisfied with existing web based MUD clients. I believe that in order for MUDs to appeal to the widest possible audience it is important that they provide a web based interface to their games.
In February 2010 I provided The Mud Connector with a version of FMud for their game list.
FMud has been developed with the Adobe Flex framework and uses a combination of mxml and actionscript.
MudGamers
Bringing the best of MUDs and online text gaming to your browser, MudGamers is a new community gaming site with a fresh modern design. An integrated Flash client enables players to connect immediately to their chosen game.
This is a site I developed in response to a perceived need to bring MUDs to a wider audience and is modelled after successful Flash and browser gaming communities. The site now has over 100 games listed and playable directly in the browser.
The MudGamers site is powered by Wordpress with additional plugins and some custom php and css modifications.
IRE Flash Client
This is a custom game client I am developing for Iron Realms Entertainment. The client is being used by Iron Realms on their game websites as an alternative to their existing Java client as well as to promote their games on Flash gaming sites such as Kongregate.
Distinctive features of the client include menu based character generation, a graphical map window and stat bars with ‘floating’ damage numbers.
