FMud is © Matt Adcock and is distributed under the terms of the ISC license. The full text of the license is included in the LICENSE file in the download package.

Installation

FMud is packaged as an swf file suitable for embedding within a webpage. A sample html file is included in the download package. This html file contains the minimum code necessary to embed FMud in a webpage, although more complex configurations are possible.

The latest version of Flash Player also requires a policy file on the server to allow socket connections. A sample policy xml file and script to serve this are provided in the download. See this post for more information.

Basic use

Type your commands in the input box at the bottom of the main window. Use the up and down arrow keys to scroll through your previous commands.

The settings window is used to set colours, command echo and numeric keypad preferences. FMud supports red, green, blue, magenta, cyan and white foreground colours. Bright colours are rendered in bold. The command echo option displays your last command italicised in the output window. Enabling the numpad option allows you to use the numeric keypad for directional movement. You must have numlock enabled on your keyboad. Eight compass directions are supported.

The editor window allows you to easily enter multiline text to the mud, for example when making a news or bulletin post.
